The Coolermaster Hyper 612S is a budget CPU cooler that doesn’t boost to be anything else, its performance was very sufficient as it performs at the temperature of 75c on full load at a overclocked setting of 4.2GHz with a monstrous I7. This is quite nice temperature to be at on this level with a air cooler.
The design of the cooler, it isn’t the most attractive around but with its six copper heatpipes it seems to do just the job you are looking for. The product is quite a big unit taking up loads of room in your system and overlap the high profile RAM modules but at least it doesn’t interfere with them. The 612S can become even bigger with the cooler allows you strong installed a second addition fan on the opposite side of the product, unfortunately you will have to buy the 120mm fan yourself. the product only comes with one silent adapter to decrease the speed of the fan and create a more quite atmosphere, so you will have to buy a separate one if you wish to silence the additional fan.

All in all, there's a lot to enjoy about the Cooler Master Hyper 612S. It's a big cooler which - instead of going down the out-and-out performance route - pulls on to the silent-performance byroads of the air-cooling world, and largely succeeds by doing so.

Cooler Master aimed for decent performance with the Hyper 612S but their main concern was noise output. It is pleasing to see large manufacturers looking for innovative ways to extend their product line-up but unfortunately, the Hyper 612S doesn’t impress us enough to warrant its £35 price tag. It is however an innovative product on Cooler Master’s behalf and is worthy of our brand new eTeknix innovation award.

Cooler Master are renowned for their excellent budget products and I’m happy to say that the Hyper 612S does not disappoint on that front. Built to be the “Silent” variant of the 612 range, the cooler comes bundled with a single 1300 RPM fan but for the most part, it proved to be a decent performer, especially when we consider that most coolers now come bundled with two fans or a single high RPM fan to compensate. Some could say it was a bold move by Cooler Master as they were never going to compete at the ultra-high end in its default configuration but it demonstrates Cooler Master’s mind set at diversifying their product line. After all, their dual fan PWM variant should take care of that factor. Since we didn’t get their higher end variant, it was up to us to see just how efficient the Hyper 612 really is and thankfully it delivered.

Overall, we are very impressed with the Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU cooler. We were very satisfied with the cooling performance, as it coped with heat from the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor with ease, even when in an overclocked state.
