The headsets physical design is super stylish and extremely cool, although it lacked on flexibility and tension that should be applied to your head. I do not have a tiny pinhead, and I had the Sirus was set to its smallest adjustment and it still felt loose on me. The ability to change the Rear/Front/Centre/Bass and Master variables on the mixer controller are brilliant, not enough brands offer this kind of integrated tech to help completely change your in-game sound and customize it to your preference. The price tag on the CM Storm Sirus 5.1 Headset is currently available for £100 in the UK and $126 in the US market.

While not perfect, the Sirus 5.1 headset is by far the best 5.1 headset we have tested to date. It does 5.1 very well and while it cannot compete with a 'proper' 5.1 speaker setup it does imitate the effect really well. That isn't to say the headset is fake by any stretch of the imagination as it features four drivers per cup and therefore doesn't need to use software effects to emulate 5.1 surround sound. Listening to Saving Private Ryan was nothing short of exceptional considering the Sirus' primary use was gaming and while music reproduction was great, it is outclassed by the Sennheiser HD595 in reproducing crystal clear audio. The Sirus was never aimed at audiophiles though, it is a gaming headset and here is where it has performance by the bucket load.

The only criticism we could find, is that the price is a fairly hefty at around £110 which we appreciate is probably a bit more than most computer or even serious gamers would want to spend on a headset. That said, this headset is nearly a masterpiece in engineering and quality, it looks good, feels good and performs extremely well, but we feel that unless you are desperate to have this headset or are a serious, nearly professional, gamer then this headset has been priced out of most consumers price range.

Straight out of the box the Sirus headset feels like a quality product. It has a solid feel to it, a weight that indicates a well-built product. The tactical mixing console is nicely designed, and is very easy to use. The turn style design of the volume control is convenient as we can make adjustments without having to look away from the on screen action.
The quality of components used in the Sirus is also impressive. With gold plated connectors used throughout we had no issues with the performance of this headset. CM Storm have also provided direct connectors if we already have a quality sound card and didn't need to use the tactical mixing console. We also find a spare pair of ear cushions, which is something that some companies would not have included and would have charged for, which adds to the overall package.
The Sirus is a high end performance headset, however given the quality of components used and the items included with the headset the price of around £110/$125 seems appropriate.
Summary The Sirus will appeal to anyone looking for a high end true 5.1 surround sound headset. Equally comfortable handing game audio, team speak or movies & music the Sirus offers high end performance for gamers or audiophiles.

All in all the CM Storm Sirus is a great sounding headset in desperate need of some ergonomic refinement. That 'hewn from a solid lump' look might be epic for sitting on the piano black shelf in your minimalist audio showroom, but there is a reason that every other manufacturer allows their ear-pieces to swivel and/or rotate a little. No matter how awesome the sound quality is, and it is, within an hour you're tired of them and within two you'll definitely want to take them off and give your head a rest. However the build quality is outstanding, the sound is too and the Tactical Mixing Console allows for swift, on the fly, adjustments to your soundscape. If it was more comfortable we'd give it a gold, but for now the CM Storm Sirus gets awarded our OC3D Silver Award.
